STATUS OF GOLF COURSE RENOVATION
Fall, 2008
Your golf course has improved markedly in the last 3 months. The greens are the best they have been in the last 4 years, including when Renee Slone was here in 2005-2006. This can be attributed to a three changes:
- Our excellent golf professional, Brian Lautenschlager
- The change in greens keepers to a greens keeping management company, Greenskeepers, Inc.
- Finally getting the automatic irrigation system (AIS) fully operative.
Brian has planned and worked tirelessly to catch the 5 year course improvement plan up to where it should have been with the previous operator. Brian has the experience from managing previous courses to bring this course around well under the funds made available by the property owners in 2006.

There have been marked changes in the course since Greenskeepers, Inc., a course maintenance company which manages other courses in the area, took over. Their experience, manpower, and mechanical abilities have already produced a benefit. The greens have been jump started with high potassium fertilizer, more effective treatment of disease, and intensive aeration, topdressing, and seeding. |
The AIS had a component missing that prevented computerized irrigation of 8 greens which left us watering them manually. That component has now been installed and is fully operative so that computerized irrigation can be achieved. This prevents both over watering which leads to fungal overgrowth and under watering which leads to stunted growth.
Brian has limited advertising thus far in order to get the course in shape before a big push to get former players back on the course. There will be an increase in advertising in 2009 and the Golf Committee believes that this will lead to more play as the cost of playing golf on the surrounding courses in this down economy may cause golfers to reevaluate where they play.
The Golf Committee and our professional are committed to advising the Board in manner that assists them in carrying out their charge of maintaining your amenities in top condition. The value of this asset, your course, is increasing the net worth of your community and improving property values, according to banking sources.
